Dear subscribers to Ed-Lib
Just a note to let you know a couple of the Cunningham Library's
databases have been updated:
Education Research Theses (ERT)
http://www.acer.edu.au/library/catalogues/theses.html
73 new records for theses - and some new enhancements. During the month
the ERT database for institutional subscribers was upgraded. New ERT
features include:
- A Quick Search.
- A Latest Additions page - sign up for alerts when new theses are
added.
- A Theses by University page - an easy way to check whether we have the
latest theses from your institution.
- An about page - info on submitting, obtaining, and digitizing theses,
and theses links.
- Search results can now be sorted by year, author or title.
- Improved date searching.
We have also added new access points on the theses entry page - if users
happen to be browsing our site or otherwise find their way to the URL
above, we direct them to their institutional authentication points for
access to ERT, ensuring they can make the most of their access
privileges, even if they haven't come from a resources pages at their
own institution. Please check your access point and let us know if there
are problems. We've already noticed an increase in ERT usage as a result
of this.
ERT feedback - and tip-offs about new theses - is always welcome.
EdResearch Online
http://cunningham.acer.edu.au/dbtw-wpd/sample/edresearch.htm
247 new records for Australian journal articles - there are now 10,668
records in the database. Documents in the database can be purchased
online for $22.00 and are dispatched to your email account. Documents
available via EdREsearch Online are also available to subscribers to
Informit's A+Education, via download from that database.
Database of Research on International Education
http://aei.dest.gov.au/AEI/PublicationsAndResearch/ResearchDatabase/
63 new records on international education - there are now over 5500
records in DRIE, on all aspects of international/export/transnational
education and international students. There is no charge to search the
Database of Research on International Education. ACER produces this
database under contract for Australian Education International at DEST,
who make it freely available to search on their website for anybody
interested.
In all, 762 new records were created for the Australian Education Index
for March, 185 of them for online documents. These records have been
dispatched to vendors for uploading into the various versions of the
AEI.
Note - Cunningham Library offers a competitively priced Membership
Service. Those of you with collection development in education
responsibilities might find our weekly list of recent Library
acquisitions, one of the benefits of membership, a useful tool for
finding out about recent Australian publications in the field of
education. Further details about membership can be found at
http://www.acer.edu.au/library/services/join.html
On the topic of new books - one of our recent acqusitions is "Meeting
The Challenge - Australian Teachers in Papua New Guinea,
Pre-Independence 1955-1975" (CopyRight Publishing). Let me know if you'd
like an order form for this book - it costs $20 + $5.00 P&P - and
profits from its sales will go to Rotary International (Brisbane) for
aid projects for children in Papua New Guinea.
Regards,
Stuart
