Dear subscribers to Ed-Lib

Just a note to let you know a couple of the Cunningham Library's
databases have been updated:

EdResearch Online
156 new records for Australian journal articles - there are now 13093
records in the database that can be purchased online for $22.00 and
dispatched to your email account. We are getting regular new clearances
from the Copyright Agency, so as well as the material listed in the new
additions the amount of older material in the database is also growing -
see the journals list.

Education Research Theses (ERT)
118 new records for theses. 13025 theses are currently listed in the
database. We are especially pleased that this month the number of RMIT
theses in ERT has jumped by 94 from 38 to 132, with more to come soon.
It is good to have these RMIT theses out the bibliographic wilderness
and listed in the best place to list an Australian thesis on an
educational topic - ERT and the Australian Education Index.

Database of Research on International Education
64 new records on international education - there are now over 5900
records in DRIE, on all aspects of international/export/transnational
education and international students. There is no charge to search the
Database of Research on International Education. ACER produces this
database under contract for Australian Education International at DEST,
who make it freely available to search on their website for anybody
interested. DEST have renewed the contract for DRIE through to mid 2007.

In all, 601 new records were created for the Australian Education Index
for September, 216 of them for online documents. These records have been
dispatched to vendors for uploading into the various versions of the

Also, ACER is pleased to announce that Mr Lance Deveson has been
appointed as Library and Information Manager. Lance has most recently
been Executive Manager, Records Services for CSIRO Information
Management & Technology. He has extensive experience as a teacher in
Australia and overseas, in educational and special libraries, as a
teacher-librarian, as a consultant and as a library manager. Lance
starts in Cunningham Library on November 20th.
