Dear subscribers to Ed-Lib

Just a note to let you know a couple of the Cunningham Library's
databases have been updated, with a link to a helpful diagram about how
the databases relate to each other:

EdResearch Online
http://cunningham.acer.edu.au/dbtw-wpd/sample/edresearch.htm
17* new records for Australian journal articles - there are now 15417
articles in the database that can be purchased online for $22.00 and
dispatched to your email account. As well as the pay-per-view material,
the database also includes over 4000 articles from free-to-air
Australian education e-journals. (*we mostly indexed conference papers
this month)

Education Research Theses (ERT)
http://www.acer.edu.au/library/theses.html
32 new records for theses - thanks to those libraries that are
responding to the call for theses. Details of new theses are welcome all
year round, email ert at acer.edu.au with questions and submissions. We now
index overseas theses that specifically deal with education in Australia
- submissions of these from New Zealand would be welcome, if you know of
any.

Database of Research on International Education (DRIE)
http://aei.dest.gov.au/AEI/PublicationsAndResearch/ResearchDatabase/
68 new records on international education - there are now over 6600
records in DRIE, on all aspects of international/export/transnational
education and international students.

Australian Education Index
In all, 611 new records were created for the Australian Education Index
(and A+) for June, over 190 of them online documents. These records have
been dispatched to vendors for uploading into the various versions of
the AEI.

-------------------------

We were lucky enough to host some visiting education subject librarians
in the Cunningham Library last Friday, and talk about the services and
products we produce. Pat Knight, our Senior Librarian, produced a Venn
diagram for the slide show, as a way of illustrating how the databases
mentioned above relate to each other and AEI/A+ in terms of the
bibliographic records they include. e.g DRIE includes some
non-AEI/non-Australian indexing on international education and some
theses on international education and some things available via
pay-per-view, EdResearch pay-per-view documents are all included in A+,
etc. Hopefully it outlines the current situation in a concise way, but
we are happy to explain further if need be. Some circles have been
added, removed or shifted in recent times. You can see the diagram at

Australasian Education Directory
Still available in print for $69.95 at
http://shop.acer.edu.au/acer-shop/product/A1065BK

Also, as noted last month, ACER recently upgraded its website. Various
parts, including the Cunningham Library's pages, are still a work in
progress. But the Library page now includes a couple of links that will
be of interest - on the left hand side you will see a box entitled
"Recent Educational Research". Included here are links to our weekly
list of new books on display, a link to the online documents we have
recently identified, and a link to recently digitised theses. Hopefully
these links are useful ways of finding out about research publications
of interest to you or your clients - visit

Stuart
