The University of Michigan ELI Testing Division is looking for an experienced psychometrician. This is a wonderful opportunity to work in a university environment, with a group of excellent colleagues, on a world-renowned testing program, where quality and high standards are more important than profit and commercial gain. The salary is good, and quite comparable with industry standards. This is not a faculty position, but a full-time staff position in which applied experience would be highly valued.  The successful candidate will be active in the field and will have a good publication record. Ongoing research will be encouraged and appreciated.
 
Formal Job Description
Duties involve planning, implementing, managing and monitoring all psychometric and technical requirements of a large-scale, international language-testing program; assuring the veracity of data; collaborating with program managers to support the program with routine psychometric services; suggesting and leading additional research studies to strengthen the program; working closely with content experts to improve and expand current assessments; participating in the design and development of new assessments; writing technical reports; participating in design of internal research and test development processes/systems; writing research reports, publishing in academic journals and making presentations at international conferences.
 
The successful candidate must have a PhD in Educational Measurement, Psychometrics, or a related field, plus a minimum of three years experience working on large-scale testing programs; must have experience in IRT-based methods, test form equating, standard setting and validity studies; excellent written and oral communication skills, including proposal writing/costing, writing technical reports, and publication in professional journals; must have good skills in explaining complex technical concepts to non-specialists. Must work well in a team environment.  The salary is competitive.
