An Introduction to Rasch Measurement
May 19, 2012 at the Embassy Suites,
Lexington, KY


WORKSHOP DESCRIPTION

The purpose of this workshop is to introduce participants to the theory and application of Rasch measurement. This session will provide participants with the necessary tools to become effective consumers of research employing Rasch measurement and the skills necessary to solve practical measurement problems.

Instructional material will focus on the dichotomous Rasch measurement model, although WINSTEPS output for rating scale and partial credit models will be presented. Participants will have the opportunity to use current Rasch software (WINSTEPS).

The format will consist of four self-contained units. The units are: Introduction to Rasch Measurement; Item and Person Estimation (including various fit analyses); Test Equating and CAT administration; and Examples of Rasch Analyses including Running WINSTEPS. The material covered is these units provide an overview of material that would normally be covered in a graduate level measurement course. 

Registration includes the one-day workshop, a copy of Introduction to Rasch Measurement (698 pages), and Rasch Measurement: Advanced and Specialized Applications (470 pages). Audience: Anyone interested in learning about the practical aspects of Rasch measurement. Previous training in measurement is strongly recommended, but not necessary.
