Dear OUCEA Research Associates,

Research Fellow in Educational Assessment at OUCEA

We would be grateful if you would circulate this job opportunity to networks and colleagues who might be interested.

An opportunity for a dynamic researcher in educational assessment is available. The Department of Education wishes to appoint a Postdoctoral Research Fellow to work with the internationally renowned Oxford University Centre for Educational Assessment. The postholder will work specifically on the Progress in International Reading Literacy Study (PIRLS) 2016 National Centre contract, which OUCEA is working on in collaboration with Pearson UK. There will also be scope for broader research on international tests and assessment topics. The main duties of the post will be devising data manipulation in preparation for analyses, and reporting and acting as a source of expert knowledge on PIRLS and international tests within OUCEA.

The successful candidate will have experience in quantitative methods as well as knowledge of large-scale assessment, international assessment and data manipulation. A doctorate involving educational assessment is essential. Relevant experience of teaching at Masters level and some experience of leading research projects and developing research proposals would be an advantage. Good interpersonal, IT and organisational skills are essential, as is the ability to liaise with various agencies and to work independently as well as part of a team.

This is a full-time fixed-term contract for 12 months.

The post is based at the Department of Education, Norham Gardens, Oxford.

The closing date for applications is 12.00 noon Wednesday 12 November 2014. Interviews will take place on Friday 28 November 2014.
