The College of Education at the University of Illinois at Chicago (UIC),
ranked in the top 50 Colleges of Education in the nation, is seeking
nominations and applications to fill a tenure-track assistant professor
position in Educational Assessment and Quantitative Methods beginning in
the 2016-2017 academic year.

*General Criteria*: We seek scholars with broad research and methodological
perspectives who can prepare graduates with strong research, pedagogical
and technical skills, and a strong knowledge base for their respective
areas of scholarship. The hire will be expected to conduct
interdisciplinary and translational scholarship, including educational
research in urban contexts or research that informs these contexts; and to
provide excellent teaching to a diverse undergraduate and graduate student
population. The hire is also expected to secure external funding for
research; advise and mentor students; supervise doctoral dissertations; and
provide service to the College and Department, including committee work and
service to professional organizations. Candidates for the position must
have an earned doctorate prior to August 15, 2017.

*Specific Criteria*: Candidates for this position must have a Ph.D. in
educational psychology or related field (e.g. psychology, educational
measurement, educational research methods, learning sciences), with
concentration on educational assessment and quantitative methods, including
psychometrics or statistics. We seek to hire candidates who have
exceptional research expertise with large scale and/or classroom-based
assessments in K-12 settings, who can combine assessment related research
with psychometric and/or statistical methods such as cognitive diagnostic
models or computer adaptive testing. The successful candidate must have a
strong evidence of research productivity or potential, as well as the
potential to secure extramural research funding.

Teaching duties for this position include educational assessment courses,
which will be offered to a diverse range of stakeholders (e.g.
prospective/current teachers, educational leaders and assessment
professionals), psychometrics, and/or statistics. Successful candidates must
demonstrate commitment to teaching and mentorship at both the undergraduate
and graduate levels and have experience with or willingness to teach in
on-line formats.

*Department*: The department of Educational Psychology is internationally
known for its rigorous degree programs and esteemed faculty. The department
has two strands: Measurement, Evaluation, Statistics, and Assessment (MESA)
and Human Development and Learning. The new hire will be housed in the
Department of Educational Psychology, with teaching/advising
responsibilities in the MESA strand. MESA has three programs: Ph.D.,
